Here at Bell Road Toyota, we know that green cars are
getting more and more common. Whether it's due to changing regulations or the
desire of drivers who want to lower their carbon footprint, more vehicles with
green powertrains are coming. The Toyota brand has always been a leader in this
segment, with pioneering models like the 2019
Toyota Prius, and now it's getting ready to introduce even more green cars
and crossovers that we know drivers will love.
The plan right now is to introduce a variety of new
battery-powered electric vehicles by 2025. The Toyota brand wants to make sure
that when it looks at its global sales in 2025, half of its numbers are from
electrified models. That means hybrids and that also means all-electric
vehicles.
To reach that goal, the Toyota brand plans to introduce at least ten new battery-powered electric vehicles. Six of them will be based on a specialized version of the Toyota Next Generation Architecture platform, or TNGA. The e-TNGA, as it will be known, will serve as a basis for a variety of new crossovers and SUVs. A new green sedan could also be in the mix.
Toyota engineers and researchers are also
working on a new solid-state battery pack, which could make its green cars far
more capable, and they hope to have it ready by the summer of 2020. This could
mean vehicles that charge faster and travel farther on a single charge. We look
forward to seeing these new Toyota models for ourselves when they arrive on our
lot.
